Every weekend should be a long weekend!  I jumped at the chance to tag along on a camping trip with my beautiful daughter, Lisa, and her partner Josh.  Burdekin Falls Dam was our destination and it certainly didn’t disappoint in giving us a fun weekend experience and a humbling appreciation of the great engineering accomplishments of a dedicated team of forward-thinking individuals.  The dam was constructed between 1984 and 1987 and it has resulted in a reliable water source for the irrigation requirements of the Burdekin region.  It would certainly be an amazing site in full flow!

The caravan park was pretty well full over the weekend and the lake had a good workout with ski boats, jet skis, canoes and everyone seemed to have a great time in the great outdoors.  For anyone living in the Townsville region this is definitely a good location to add to your weekend getaway list!
